Zines in Audio
April 13, 2012 § Leave a Comment
Do you love zines and listening to podcasts? If so, I have a new podcast to add to your collection, along with various news stories and audio clips.
Alex Wrekk and Derek Neuland co-host the Nobody Cares About Your Stupid Zine podcast, which you can subscribe to for free on iTunes or listen to on their website. The five episodes cover zine reviews, the 2011 Chicago Zine Fest, Teal Triggs’ much-debated book Fanzines, and more. If you’re a zine fan, be sure to check this out!
In 2008, there was a panel discussion at Duke University’s Sallie Bingham Center for Women’s History and Culture that included zinesters local to Durham, North Carolina. Before the panel discussion, zine authors Jaime Danehey and Alexis Gumbs chatted with WUNC radio host Frank Stasio about how zines altered their lives. You can stream or download the audio from WUNC’s website.
Finally, NPR interviewed Denver Zine Library‘s Jamez Terry and Kelly Costello in 2004 about their favorite zines. Download the audio or read the transcript on NPR’s website.
If you know of any other podcasts or audio clips about zines, please leave a comment!
